Sunny 16 Rule

Posted on 3rd April, 2016

The Sunny 16 Rule is there to help you get the right exposure.

On a sunny day, set your aperture to f/16 and set your shutter speed to the reciprocal value of your ISO setting.

For example:

Your aperture is f/16 and your ISO is set to ISO 100. Set your shutter speed to 1/100 or 1/125 (nearest speed to 1/100).

Your aperture is f/16 and your ISO is set to ISO 200. Set your shutter speed to 1/200 or 1/250 (nearest speed to 1/200).

Experiment with the Sunny 16 Rule to see how it affects your pictures. You can always change your exposure settings to your preference.
